What is Misendy?
Misendy is a modest luxury fashion brand rooted in Senegalese woven pagne tissé fabric. Founded by a Senegalese designer based in Abu Dhabi, we offer made-to-measure and adjustable silhouettes for women who refuse to choose between heritage, modesty, and modern elegance. Every Heritage piece is sourced in Dakar and finished in the UAE.
Where is Misendy based?
Misendy is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Our Heritage Collection fabric is sourced from artisan weavers in Dakar, Senegal, and our pieces are tailored to perfection in the UAE.
What makes Misendy different from other modest fashion brands?
Three things set Misendy apart: handwoven pagne tissé fabric sourced directly from Dakar artisans, a genuine commitment to made-to-measure fit, and a design philosophy that roots West African heritage in contemporary modest luxury. We do not make African-inspired fashion — we make fashion rooted in Africa.
About Pagne Tissé
What is pagne tissé?
Pagne tissé is a handwoven West African fabric produced on traditional narrow-band looms by skilled artisans. Unlike printed African fabrics, pagne tissé patterns are created by weaving threads together — each design is unique and cannot be replicated by a machine. Misendy sources its pagne tissé directly from weavers in Dakar, Senegal.
Is pagne tissé the same as African print or wax fabric?
No. African print (wax fabric) is a printed fabric — the pattern is applied to the surface after weaving. Pagne tissé is woven: the pattern is created by the interlacing of threads during the weaving process itself. This makes it significantly more labour-intensive and culturally distinct.
Which Misendy pieces contain pagne tissé?
All pieces in our Heritage Pagne Collection feature handwoven pagne tissé — including the Rosa blazer set, Linguère wrap kimono, Frida 3-in-1 set, Huda wrap skirt, Diarra Heritage set, and the Heritage Abaya sets (Zaha, Dija, Amara, Maï, Samira). Each piece clearly states pagne tissé in its description.
Sizing & Fit
What sizes does Misendy offer?
Most Misendy pieces are available from XS to XXL in standard sizing. Many pieces also offer a one-size-adjustable option. All pieces offer a Custom / Sur-mesure option for made-to-measure orders.
How does made-to-measure work at Misendy?
Select your piece, choose the Custom / Sur-mesure option, and place your order. Our team will contact you via WhatsApp within 24 hours to collect your measurements (bust, waist, hips, height, and any specific requirements). Your piece is then cut and sewn to your measurements. Production takes 2 to 4 weeks from measurement confirmation.
Do I need professional measurements for a custom order?
No. You can take your own measurements at home with a soft measuring tape. You need: bust (around the fullest part of your chest), waist (2 cm above your navel), hips (around the fullest part), and your height in bare feet. Our team will guide you through the process via WhatsApp.
What if my standard size is between two options?
We always recommend the Custom / Sur-mesure option if you are between sizes. This ensures the piece is made exactly for you, with no compromise on fit.
Orders & Delivery
Does Misendy ship internationally?
Yes. Misendy ships worldwide. We currently ship to the UAE, UK, France, Senegal, and most international destinations. Shipping times and rates vary by location — details are provided at checkout.
How long does delivery take?
Ready-to-ship pieces typically dispatch within 2 to 5 business days. Made-to-measure and pre-order pieces take 3 to 4 weeks from order confirmation before dispatch.
How will I know when my order is ready?
You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours of your order. For custom pieces, our team will contact you via WhatsApp to confirm measurements and keep you updated at every stage of production.
Customisation
Can I request a custom colour for a piece I have seen?
In some cases, yes — subject to fabric availability. Contact us via WhatsApp or email before placing your order and we will advise on current colour options.
Can I have a piece made in a different length?
Yes. Length adjustments are part of the made-to-measure service. Specify your requirements when our team contacts you after your order.
Can I order a piece not currently on the website?
For bespoke requests, please contact us directly. We handle a limited number of fully bespoke commissions each season.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
Please refer to our full Refund Policy for details. Made-to-measure and custom pieces cannot be returned unless they are faulty or significantly different from what was ordered. Ready-to-ship pieces may be eligible for exchange.
