Made-to-Measure Modest Fashion: Why Your Size Should Never Be a Barrier

Modest fashion has a fit problem. Not a style problem, not a fabric problem — a fit problem.

For too long, modest women have been handed garments designed for a standard size and told to make it work. The sleeves are too short. The hem does not reach. The waist sits in the wrong place. The solution offered is always the same: alter it yourself.

At Misendy, we believe that is the wrong answer. The right answer is simple: start from your measurements.

What is Made-to-Measure?

Made-to-measure (MTO) is not haute couture — it does not require months of fittings or a Paris atelier. It means that a garment is cut and sewn specifically to the measurements of the woman who will wear it, rather than to a generic size chart.

The result is a piece that fits the way clothes are supposed to fit: the shoulders sit correctly, the waist falls in the right place, the hem hits exactly where it should, and the sleeves cover what they are meant to cover.

For modest dressing, where coverage is intentional rather than accidental, this distinction matters enormously.

Why Made-to-Measure Matters for Modest Fashion Specifically

Standard sizing was developed for the average body — which is to say, no one's body in particular. But modest fashion adds additional requirements that standard sizing rarely accounts for:

  • Sleeve length that actually covers the wrist
  • Hemlines that reach the floor, not the mid-calf
  • Necklines that sit where they are meant to sit
  • Enough fabric through the chest and hips to move freely without pulling

These are not luxury requirements. They are the minimum standard. Yet they are routinely unmet by ready-to-wear modest fashion at every price point.

How Made-to-Measure Works at Misendy

At Misendy, every product page offers a Custom / Sur-mesure option. The process is simple:

  1. Select your piece — choose the silhouette, colour, and style that speaks to you
  2. Choose Custom / Sur-mesure — at checkout or via direct contact
  3. Share your measurements — our team will contact you via WhatsApp within 24 hours to confirm your measurements and any specific requirements
  4. We craft your piece — production takes 2 to 4 weeks from confirmation
  5. Your piece arrives — made for the body you have, right now

For signature pieces like the Rosa blazer set and the Salma dress set, made-to-measure is the only option. These pieces are designed to be personal — not mass produced.

The Body Inclusive Philosophy Behind It

At Misendy, body inclusivity is not a marketing strategy. It is embedded in how we make clothes. When every piece can be made to your measurements, there is no "plus size" and no "petite" — there is only your size.

We celebrate women in every silhouette, at every stage of life. Our adjustable one-size pieces are designed to fit and flatter across body types without pinning or alterations. Our made-to-measure service goes further — removing fit entirely as a barrier between a woman and the piece she wants to wear.

How to Take Your Measurements

You do not need a professional. You need a soft measuring tape and a friend (or a mirror).

  • Bust — measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor
  • Waist — measure around your natural waist, approximately 2 cm above your navel
  • Hips — measure around the fullest part of your hips, approximately 20 cm below your waist
  • Height — measure in bare feet
  • Sleeve length (optional) — from shoulder tip to wrist

Send these to us with your order and we handle the rest.

The Misendy woman should never have to choose between modesty and fit. With made-to-measure, she never has to.
